What's nice about teaching in metro NYC is that you get all the jewish holidays off, plus a winter break in February. I don't think most places get that week off. So that amounts to a total of an extra 8 days off or so

Lol you are so right about that. I think we also get the Irish holidays too off I am not mistaking. The Jewish holiday that you are talking about I think the name is Hannakah something like that lol.

Hannukah usually falls during Christmas break. The holidays I'm talking about our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. There's one other I think, but I don't remember it.

NYC teachers get so many more holidays than we do here in this part of Florida. LAST YEAR was the first year the school district closed for Martin Luther King's Birthday, as just one example. Come on. It's been a NATIONAL Holiday for decades now.

I don't think you can live anywhere on 86K a year. You'd probably have to live in a shabby 250K house, with only 2 or 3 bathrooms. At least one of your SUVs would have to be purchased used. The horse barn would need some work--are you a handyman?

The teacher I used to work with here in Florida was originally from Tennesse. She said she made more money in Tennessee, and Georgia, than in Florida.
