Baltimore might be a pretty alright choice--it's quite a bit warmer than Michigan though it's certainly no Florida. The winter when it hits is fairly mild, and its location on the western part of the Chesapeake keeps it fairly safe from hurricanes. For a major city in the northeast megalopolis, it's really affordable.

You can also consider moving out of the country entirely. There are quite a few countries out there much closer to the equator.

The Tampa Bay area is a great choice. My mom moved here from Michigan and loves it.

Don't rule out California.
This comes from someone that is escaping this summer.
The main cost here has always been housing. At this
time I think the housing here is reasonable. I havn't
thought that since 1972. This 'horrable' housing crash
is a blessing for anyone that wants to live here. Scan
the net for homes. 40K to 90K if your not frightened by
shadows. Your young and well employed. It might be
good for you. We have a moderator here that recently
moved to Sacramento. I think he came from your area.
Try there. Sorry I don't remember the name.
