I grew up in Euclid, OH after we ran out of Cleveland when they started forced bussing and house robbed twice. I am from a immigrant family (political refugees) and no I didnt speak english but parents assimilated and accepted new county. Euclid was and is still a awesome lake front community but white flight is taking place, it really sucks. the city is 66% WHITE and 33% black, but the schools are over 70% black....whites sending their kids to private or move out once hit high school. the schools scores are bad if your a person of color, white and asians score high. I just cry when i remember how fun the school was and the memories, it was a great place to go to school and it cannot nor will it be replicated because we had our own beach parties all the time..its slowly going. Crime wet up too. My parents are still mind boggled, cant understand the Black culture, always victim role but dont accect education or language.

Huh? What are you talking about? Sounds like a disconnect due to a lack of knowledge of history and social structure. I'm sure there are other communities in the Cleveland area where Black students are doing fine.

If you are going to make a blanket generalization like this, I would suggest that you check your own post for language and spelling errors first.

Iowa City's schools have changed a lot the past few years. When I went there it was well over 90% white. That number has now dropped to around 65%.

Of my grade schools, and those my mom taught at, change from 1990 to 2007:

Kirkwood:
Then: 79% white
Now: 49% white

Central:
Then: 92% white
Now: 70% white

Wood:
Then: 93% white
Now: 39% white

Roosevelt:
Then: 82% white
Now: 39% white

My Junior High:
Then: 88% white
Now: 64% white

My High School:
Then: 87% white
Now: 72% white

Yeah, Iowa City and pretty much all of the major and mid-major cities in Iowa have seen an increase in diversity in their schools. I was discussing this on the Iowa forum when someone was talking about Dubuque schools. In Waterloo, Des Moines, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Davenport you can find schools that are predominately Black and in Sioux City you can find a school, if not more that are mostly Hispanic. You will find a good amount of students from other groups in these schools too. Even the cities where you can't find such schools, except for maybe Ames, Mason City or Marshalltown, you can find schools where the minority student population is around 40-50%. So, Iowa's cities are more diverse than many people would think they are. Sioux City might have the most diverse schools in the state, as you can find schools with decent amounts of Native American and Asian students due probably to the proximity to the Dakotas and Asian refugees, as well as migrants from the South and Latin America to the city.

^ it's mostly the younger population that's diverse, because of the huge influx of hispanic/african americans that are having many more children than the whites who have been in the area for decades. Also because a large % of the population are college students, who are around 85% white - and normally don't have any children.

Iowa City's school district is 65% white, although the population of that area is around 85% white. It's not really because of private schools either. The public schools in town are in such good shape and have such a good rep, there were never really any desires to open private schools. There's one small religious school, and a few little private grade schools. Nothing major.
