Here in the U.S., most people do not use their turn signals and I wonder why. Some people that switch lines for example in the highway do not use turn signals, or when they turn to either left or right.

Why is it so hard to use your turn signals all the time? You don't get tired to press the thing to use them!

100% selfish drivers out there these days. Let your fellow drivers on the road know what you are up to, especially when you are going to turn or switch lanes. I always use them.

Sometimes if you signal your intention, some jerk will speed up so you can't get over so people just find a space when they can and dart over. But I try to use my turn signal most of the time except when I am the only person on the road and/or turning into my own driveway.

A few observations about turn signals from a Jersey perspective:

- blueeyes is right that sometimes signaling can give the jerk in the next lane the impetus to speed up just to $crew you over, so timing the signaling is important sometimes
- in my part of Jersey, most people use turn signals but the people from Rockland County, NY, seem to hate using signals.
- even though I would say MOST people use their turn signals, many of them do not use them PROPERLY. If you're going to turn right, signal at least 5 seconds before you are going to be braking. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT, PEOPLE! It kills me when these idiots hit the brakes, slow down and just as they're turning, they signal. Thanks a whole lot, moron. I think your brake lights gave it away along with the motion of your car turning right long before your signal told me anything...

Here we go again with this clown. Bet it isn't too long before he is complaining that all the turn signals on vehicles here are not amber. Same stuff just a different name. Look up NorthNJ, Mattias, and suryoyo if you want to see where he is going next on his posts. (Pssst, metric measurements and how we are stupid for not using them)

Really? Most people in the U.S. don't use them? Most people in Bergen County perhaps...

As far as I can tell, most drivers do use their signals, although maybe not always in all circumstances when they should. Honestly, there are far worse problems out on the roads than this.

VERY seldom do I use my turn signals. Like, if I'm in a protected turning lane why would I need to signal? Seems redundant.

If I do use them, I'll do it for my own benefit, and not so much the other driver.
