I think it would be interesting to hear about nightlife and entertainment options in various cities. Obviously we all know that big cities, NYC, LA, Miami, Chicago, etc. all have endless options for nightlife and entertainment no matter what you happen to be looking for, but it would be interesting to hear about other "hot spots" where you may not have necessarily known there WAS a nightlife scene.

How's your city for nightlife?

Outside of Chicago proper, Id recommend Naperville, IL. Major nightlife scene, which is overrun with with college kids from North Central College, sadly. There are lots of nice bars, outdoor eateries, clubs, fancy restaurants, etc. Not bad for a town of 150K.

Tuscaloosa, Ala. There is "the Strip" next to the University of Alabama...unfortunately the university is buying up the property and closing down the nightlife there. BUT, it is moving to downtown with a large number of restaurants, night spots, an old movie theatre where plays are performed along with some old films.
ALSO
Birmingham, Ala., has clubs where lots of the current hot bands performed when they were up and coming. Great restaurants (locally owned, too!), several arts festivals, nice museum, the old Alabama Theatre...with 4 colleges/universities in town, it's bound to have lots to do.

All through new Jersey there are several towns that have their own club scene seperate from Manhattan and Philly.

Hoboken has it's own thing going on. Then there are scattered clubs through out all the suburbs on North Jersey.

Morristown, NJ has a big bar scene.

Then again down in the Delaware Valley suburbs in NJ there is another big bar scene.

And the main place is at the NJ shore there are tons of clubs.

I would say the main difference between what goes on in NJ rather than in the real cities, is that it's like one big clique here. Everyone in the NJ club scene knows everyone else. A lot of drama. Who is wearing what designer. It is a really good time though and it kind of an intereting thing to walk into a club alone but know about 30 people you can hang out with.

I was a big part of this scene in college, but eventually you have to move on from it. There is one unique place we have though, it's a beach nightclub open sunday afternoon right on the beach that serves frozen drinks but plays the same music as a standard nightclub. it is really fun and you see people from 21 all the way to 60 rocking out.
