I go where I get a job.
Having nice scenery is a bonus though. I landed in a place next to a great lake and a extra dose of trees compared to where I used to live. It's kind of flat in a lot of places, but the trees, the big lake, the inland lakes, the fact that a lot of it's left alone to just grow... it's all very nice. It also has fewer billboards and less litter: two things that could improve a lot of places.

I live on an urban island in Biscayne Bay. Hell yeah the scenery played a huge part in my decision to live here.

I moved from a place that was monotonously flat everywhere. Moving to someplace with scenery and mountains was a big draw for me, so yes it played a big part. I can drive a couple hours in any irection and find a heck of a lot of diverse and stunningly beautiful scenery, some that's more unique than anywhere else in the world (Sedona, Grand Canyon, Sonoran Desert, etc.).

I've never really noticed the scenery here.

I live where I live for one reason: the economy. It's possible I may be looking to move again when the economy recovers and I have a few years of experience but I'll see.

I moved here for love, but it will be tough to pull me away from the Black Hills. I love it here.

No. I chose Creve Coeur because downtown St. Louis is scary. It's like Detroit but without the auto industry.

There are other reasons that keep me here (and relatively content).
Let's be honest though, Chicago might not have mountains, but it has A LOT of trees and the Lake looks like you are on the ocean. Every single student of my mom's is wowed by how many trees there are in the city how green and lush the residential streets look.

Chicago might not be Atlanta, but when comparable to cities of a similar size and urbanity, it's natural scenery is very beautiful, green and lush (except for winter obviously) with the Lake having a turquoise Caribbean color.

Absolutely. The most important thing, the people would be second. I'll find work where I want to live. I can't have a bad day with the mountains, the coast, wildlife, trees....

I'd be miserable in a flat, dirty city unless I was making a fortune, and could have several scenic places to retreat.

“The mountains are fountains of men as well as of rivers, of glaciers, of fertile soil. The great poets, philosophers, prophets, able men whose thought and deeds have moved the world, have come down from the mountains.” John Muir

I love palm trees and have made sure to add a couple to our yard. I want to feel like I am in the tropical south. We also have many green trees that change color and fall. So we really have all the seasons. Winter is almost like the north except only one small snow fall and flowers are abound.
