Do you have family anywhere in the U.S.? If so, where?
Will you seek employment? If so, in what line of work?

What about around a TX base like Ft Hood? TX has great cost of living, and I've heard they are great to service families in the Ft. Hood area. Actually, Texans tend to have lots of respect for military families, so maybe check other TX bases, too?

Search the area around Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The army base is close to the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Search City-Data's Kentucky and Tennessee state forums, read postings and inquire about the towns near Fort Campbell. Also check out the Fort Knox area of Kentucky.

You might search the Kentucky forum for that discussion. But as a southerner (Georgian), I can tell you that answering the racism question repeatedly gets tiresome in 2007.

Good luck with your relocation.
