I did a search in North Jersey and found 0 houses available for that price.

There was this piece of land in a not-so-desirable section of Jersey City available for $149,900

Or a 1-BR apartment in this building in Guttenberg, NJ for $149,900

Or this studio in up-and-coming (but not there yet) Journal Square for $130,000

Cleveland, probably bad neighborhood(all inner city ohio cities are really delapidated)
WHAT? have you been to COlumbus?! There it can cost 300,000 for a central city condo. NOT all ohio central cities are rundown, Columbus' central city is becoming one of the most expensive places in the metro.

$150,000 might get you a smallish toolshed by the side of the road in SoCal.

Isn't the national median price for a house something like $168,000?

Some cottages (this one in Spirit Lake) built in the 1920's and 1930's for that price:
Exit Realty Sandpoint - Search for Real Estate in Sandpoint Idaho

Most houses in the area of newer construction are probably more around $275-350K....

If you go down to Coeur d'Alene area....here's one in Hayden:
Exit Realty Sandpoint - Search for Real Estate in Sandpoint Idaho

FYI, not advertising for Exit Realty.....they're just the local MLS search I use to look up local properties....note that these listings are for ALL REALTORS in the area....
