$150,000 in Los Angeles will get you this....

http://homepics.realtor.com/image2/http/westernla/listings/large/087/07-190551.jpg (broken link)

1B/1BA co-op in a super-sketchy area.

Of the 13,000+ properties for sale in LA, only 2 were $150k or less. I'm surprised there were any, to be honest.

Oh, I just tried my links for my response and found they didn't work. The first one does, though. They were supposed to take you to the listing itself. Sorry about that!

Cool $489,000 is the cheapest I could find in Naples, FL

I went looking at the local homes for sale and found that the cheapest I could find was this home.

http://www.newhomes.com/nhimages/fl/collier/b.victoriaa.1804.jpg (broken link)

2562 Square Feet
3 Bedroom
2.5 Bath
2 Car Garage
$489,890

Now is not the time to move to Florida. Property Taxes are out of control (total understatement). Home Prices are sky high. Over the past 3 Years my homes worth as gone up 91%. It great if you own a home but not great if your trying to buy.

Can't get much for a $150K downpayment in SoCal!
You can get a 1/1/1 condo for 150k in CA. I had seen 100k foreclosed properties in Temecula.

What? I did a simple search and turned up a few properties in Naples for around $150,000. Granted most were condo's but you can still find something in Naples for that price.

I think you could buy the county I'm from in rural Kentucky for $150,000 (just kidding)

----------------
There's a joke in Kentucky:

"Do you hear about the tornado that went through (insert name of town)?

It did $500 worth of improvements
