For me, initially it was the jobs available and being created. But after living in Sarasota, Florida for a few years , I have changed my mind. Crime has become a great concern throughout our nation; but it seems worse where the population is more transient, like here. We just had a woman shot in the face, when she looked out her bedroom window!!!!! HORRIFYING!!!!! Now I'll consider the crime rate more important for a good quality of life. What do other people think?

-things to do

I can get away from crime easily. I used to think size mattered until I traveled to places that had far less to offer than my city of half its size.
