I guess this time it will certainly be in US. There shouldn't be any surprise at all.

Well my understanding of the Olympic selection process is limited, but I believe Chicago received only the 3rd best score of the candidate cities behind Tokyo and Madrid, but ahead of Rio de Janeiro.

It would be cool if the games were in Chicago, but a part of me secretly wishes they would go to Rio so I could have an excuse to go there.

With Obama endorsing Chicago, along with Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and many olympians coming out in support of Chicago almost guarantees Chicago will win.

That and bribes.

Blogo, I meant Blago...anyway, in all seriousness, I hope Chicago wins. It is a great U.S. city and deserves the event. The heat and humidity shouldn't be too much of a problem, as the northern tier seems to be in a "global cooling" event right now. Truth is, even in a normal year, temps near the lake usually are not all that bad. (Assuming many of the venues will be near the lake)...Good luck, Chi-town!

I think the competition is really between Chicago and Rio. Madrid is really unlikely to win the next Olympics after London, since they don't usually have back-to-back games on the same continent. That and there has never been a games in South America--makes Rio very attractive.

I'm looking forward to taking the high-speed rail to Chicago seven years from now to see the games!
