All I am looking for is an example here, or a direction...not all of the research...not looking for a hand me out here...
I have been on this site for two days on and off looking for data. I see data all over the place but its a list on a page, not exportable to excel or similar....
"Top 101 cities for X"
"Top 101 cities for Y"
Well the the cities change in those results. I need data on a specific set of cities...not studies that change cities based on study criteria

I need to find an area in the web site that has lists (exportable maybe) for all the cities in the country (or at least the larger ones 40,000+).
I cant find these huge files that give stats for a bunch of cities. I have only found areas that allow you to click a state then click on individual cities in the state. As I stated I am trying to get info for all the major cities...if I have to do it that way it would take for ever.

Can someone out there, without sarcasm, just help me and point me to this so called area that has these massive lists the guy from Altanta in my presious post talks about

I have not seen them.....

Thought these forums were here to help people not offer saractic remarks...and shoot people down. Some people may not be as savy as the guy from Altanta in my presious post

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR YOU TO GIVE ME THE DATA....I AM LOOKING FOR ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS...

Is there a large file (exportable to database, not text on a screen) that lists all the cities accompanied by an array of Attributes....not dead lists on a page....I need to take this data into another application to do analysis....

Thanks

City-Data does not have exportable data flat files. You would have to scrape web pages on the main site to get sortable statistics from here. Perhaps a member can recommend a site that has what you need? If it's a competing commercial site, it will need to be shared with you via Direct Message, since it is against the TOS to discuss competitors.

Im always looking for data comparing cities and the American Factfinder is the best I've seen.

However as you stated, it only allows you to pick certain cities from individula states.

Here's something that might save you time. American Facfinder lets you pick all the cities you want from every state in one search. So you can spend time selecting all the cities and get that out of the way first, and then you can search all the data you want without having to go back and select the cities over again.

You might want to reign in your little childish tirade about "the guy from Atlanta" a bit. Quickest way to get banned other than trolling I have seen is bashing a Mod, and starting the same thread over again once it is closed.

Some good advice WAS given to you in your first thread, same as here so far.

I agree with 18Montclair....start there might be a bit combersome but you should be able to work your way through it...

I havent found a single massive list or database....

Obviously you cant detect this very well....but I do commend your efforts...
Just got off to a bad start with the Mod being all sarcastic to me....Thought these were places that you can go and ask a simple question without being ridiculed. While the site is great for a city by city basis I think that it lacks in an overall view of the data. THink there needs to be a large downloadable file that contains data. Not hunting and pecking 10,000 pages to retireve data....
Other than that its a great site with a lot of valuable information...
Keep up the fantastic work Mods

Yeah you can, but if spotted, you will just be banned again. They are quite good at spotting people who sign up again, and again. Just like a Troll would do.

The administration and the mod team at City-Data take a dim view of members who create multiple accounts, which is why we have many ways of detecting it. Best advice would be not to even try it.
