Have a safe trip, pack some snacks and drinks, make sure you have an ample supply of gas, and enjoy your trip! Have a good time in the Queen City as well!

Get a GPS, and update the map software as soon as you get it.

Anyone who tries to print out google maps, or mapquest is asking for trouble.

One wrong turn, and you are in trouble.

My mother in law lives near Austin so I've made a similar trip a few times. Pretty much all interstate driving, shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Go to AAA and ask them to make you a custom "triptik".

My parents did that on our round trip from Buffalo to Califormia and back in the 60's and it was GREAT. They give you a complete flip map and a guide for the things that will interest you.

We asked to go down thru the north and come back thru the south...a trip I've remembered all the days since in vivid detail...

It's got to be even better nowadays!

If you're not a member, ask a friend who is to get on for you - but having a AAA membership has many advantages from towing to discounts on all sorts of travel things and travel tips...
