I'm beginning to think that Cash Cab is America's secret favorite game show. I think part of the appeal of the show is that it couldn't happen in many other places.

I don't see why it couldn't work in Chicago. The Loop is the only other place besides Manhattan where you can hail a cab so easily in the US.

Although I've never been there, I would imagine cabs are easy to come by in Toronto as well.

I'm assuming the people he picks / play the game are only traveling inside Manhattan. Not many cities have an area that large with structured blocks/streets the way Manhattan does.

What would make it more interesting is if they had one in a city like Cleveland or Detroit where you can catch a cab downtown but have to go through some very rough areas for miles to get where you want to go.

Imagine a businessman who works downtown but lives out in the suburbs getting his 3rd strike somewhere off E79th (Cleveland) or Van Dyke (Detroit).

That would give you some motivation to get all the questions right.

I don't see why Chicago wouldn't work... I lived in south loop and got cabs on a regular basis.

The would be called "EXTREME CASH CAB!"

Or "CASH CAB, EXTREME!"

And the mortified looks on the faces of the losers dropped off in the middle of the ghetto would be funny as hell!

I don't see why it wouldn't work for Chicago. Maybe DC and LA would fit in the equation.
