In what other US city would the game show Cash Cab work? I can't think of any. Only in NY can you be kicked out of a cab (if you lose) and not be stranded in the middle of nowhere and be able to hail another cab right from that spot.

I think Vegas might have been a good option except there you definitely cannot "hail" a cab and they can't just drop you off anywhere.

I would watch that. High Stakes Cash Cab.

Ben Bailey did a comedy club appearance in Naples last winter which we went to see. He was a lot more "raunchy" in his club act. He hung out outside after the show and talked and posed for pix with all the customers. Nice guy and funny even in person.

Another reason it would only work in NYC is that people take cabs short distances (say 40 blocks). If you had it in another city you might have someone asking to go miles.

It could probably work in parts of DC, although I don't think it would be as interesting as in Manhattan. It was very easy to hail a cab where we lived, and I would guess that most of the trips were also relatively short distances. (although our best cab coup EVER wasn't in the city; it was successfully hailing a cab at 10 pm on a residential street in suburban Reston - the driver was turning into his driveway, we were lost trying to find the bus back to the metro station. talk about luck!)

Las Vegas Blvd is blocked off to pedestrians, so that won't fly.

Ben Bailey. He said they screen the people. Of course, people take cabs from Manhattan to the other boroughs and to the airports, but Cash Cab wouldn't take those people.

I would say yes it could only work in NYC. Maybe trips between the Chicago Loop and Northside as well. Lots of smart people in a very small area, but not too small(othewise Id include SF, DC and Boston)
