Is there anywhere else that people just drive back and fourth on a street because there's nothing to do? They do that in Bismarck, ND. Driving back and fourth on main street is what all the high schoolers do. "Cruising Main" (actually how my parents met!) and when I told my friend (from a suburb of Minneapolis) about this, he said it was one of the funniest things he's ever heard. People driving back and fourth on a street because there's nothing else to do.

I just have to know if this is common anywhere else?

even with the gas prices, they still do it because there's nothing else to do!

it is common somewhere else--- we used to cruise all the time in our teens early 20's(Im only in my late 20's now) but it gave us something to do, polish up the ride and meet some girls that we didnt already know(small town).

In Albuquerque the cruising has died down a little due to police banning it and gang violence but some still do it, its mostly lowriders though.

I know that "cruising" was a popular thing for teenagers to do back in the 70's and 80's. It would usually be on a Friday night at a shopping center. I never did such a thing though.

I often times drive around because it gives me a quiet place to think, and it can be somewhat entertaining. As for "cruising" down the same street over and over again...no, definitely not. Although, when I was in Poland, Ohio I saw a lot of people who seemed to be driving back and forth on the same road, and many knew each other...it was very interesting.

I'm in my fifties and still occassionally do this activity even with the price of gas. It's most appropriate when you're driving an American muscle car. Years ago I would cruise all night with friends. Wonderful times. You'd would run into lots of stop light drag racing that way, all in good fun.

Every town I have ever lived in . Seriously.

Cruising was very big when I was a teenager and early 20's. Still is if the traffic is any indication in the towns I lived in recently.

Some main drags that I can think of disallow cruising. I like to go on drives as well, but usually I have a good route, and not the same street back and forth. When we would cruise when I was a kid, it wouldn't be one street, but all over, and just take a circuit around town.
