I'm just wondering if there are any other places anywhere in the US that is similar to the Mackinac Island. Like a small little island town thats only accessible by ferry, has lots of shopping, and recreational bike riding around the island.

Also Nantucket off the MA coast.

Ocracoke Island in NC

Tangier Island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay in VA and its neighbor Smith Island in MD.

All have little villages and rec opportunities, and are accessible only by ferry.

I believe the Lake Erie Islands are this way too, but don't quote me! I've never actually been there, but my friend loves put-in-bay and middle bass island. I know there are a few places near toledo and sandusky, ohio where you can take the ferry to get there. I would recommend that if you are going to travel to this area of the country you must check out cedar point, voted #1 amusement park on earth! Also, some of you might be surprised to know that there are several wineries in the area.
