I'm very curious about population changes from year 2000 ..

I usually refer to the world almanac but that always comes out a year earlier than the year it's named after.

I think it's April Fool's Day when they go door to door so I'm guessing it's mailed to you a few weeks before that.

2010 Census : About 2010 Census (http://2010.census.gov/2010census/about_2010_census/index.html - broken link)

"When
Every 10 years, and the next census occurs in 2010. Census questionnaires will be mailed or delivered to every household in the United States in March 2010. The questions ask you to provide information that is accurate for your household as of April 1, 2010. The Census Bureau must count everyone and submit state population totals to the U.S. President by December 31, 2010."

the census is done around April of 2010, with numbers coming out for the country around New Years of 2011, states and cities around April/May of 2011.
