Florida Panhandle. An exposure to cold for a couple of days, but you don't have to deal with it every day like up North.
The average temps are in the 60's and low 70's instead of the 80's like South Florida, so the Panhandle is very nice and gives "exposure" to winter without having to deal with the negatives like snow, ice, gray clouds and misery day in and day out.
Other thing I really like about Florida winters is that cold always means a sunny sky, so there are never dreary, cloudy and cold depressing days. Sun and cold or warmth. Can't beat it.
I agree. Places with an exposure to winter without being too cold are nice. You get just enough to get a taste of winter. But you don't get too much. And on the rare occasion it's cold, you're reminded of why you don't live somewhere that gets weather like that on a regular basis and you realize how good you have it.
Anyone else watch the documentary "Yellowstone"? There are parts of Yellowstone, that lie in a horseshoe shape mountain range, that fall to -44F during the winter months. Amazing.
I like NY winters the best; but that's too vague
The general Albany area has the best winters IMO. I love the snow and cold weather without it being too unbearable such as Syracuse, Chicago, and Minneapolis.
The NYC metro, the Boston metro, and the Philadelphia metro are all pretty up there when it comes to places with great winters also.
Places with no snow and warm temps shouldn't have the right to call the season winter if you ask me.
It's more about the snow in the Syracuse area, than the cold. We have our cold days, but the snow can be tough. With that said, it is dealt with in a timely manner.
Minnesota, especially Northeastern Minnesota with cross country skiing, dog sledding, ice fishing, ice climbing, snowmobiling, and winter camping. Nothing better than having to cut through ice and take a polar bear plunge after being in a hot sauna.
