My next purchase is going to be some sort of hybrid as well. I seriously don't know how all of you gas-guzzling SUV drivers can afford to be filling up your tanks when it even takes $32+ to fill up my small sedan! I'm a fan of the Prius, but I don't like what I've been hearing about the terrible blind spots and the expensive battery replacements. I've been looking at the Corolla, which is in my price range and nets 41 miles per gallon.

actually, smart cars are not hybrids - they're just very, very teeny - they've been in Europe forever - here's a pix:

i don't know how ppl with big SUV's do it either. our rental car in seattle was a PT Cruiser and it took $50 to fill up that sucker (@ 3.13/gal)! i have a honda cr-v that i barely drive - i take my '98 corolla everywhere.

Average cost 2.75/2.95/gallon for regular unleaded in Pittsburgh today (seemed to differ neighbourhood to neighbourhood).

Default California Is The King Of The Highest Gas $$$

Where I live, which is in Ventura County (40 MIN north of L.A)... Grade 87 gas will hit you for about $3.39 a gallon. Now, if you want premium, you'd pay about $3.59.
