The SF bay area is the only area in Cali I would consider living.

Honestly I could see myself living anywhere in California, but I'd go with the Southern region.

I love both Northern & Southern California, but to actually live for me it would be either Los Angeles or Ventura Counties (and specific parts of both).

I don't get it, how could coastal California be divided off as a separate state from all those other areas, since they all have their own coastlines? Are you suggesting that one state would have boundaries that ran the whole length of the current CA border from north to south but whose eastern border ends about 5 miles east of the surf? If so, would that make San Francisco part of the Coastal CA state and the Bay Area state or neither? Also, you've included several regions in more than one category For example: Oakland is listed under the bay Area section, but the Northern California section lists 'East bay'. Also, LA county is listed for both So Cal and LA area states.
This poll is inherently silly but I'm willing to participate if you make the boundaries clear. You should draw a map of your proposed divisions and then re-post.

I gave several options, the coastal areas do include san fransisco however it doesn't go for more than 5 miles inland, when the"San Fransisco Bay Area" includes other cities other than San Fransisco that some people rather live in...
just choose the area that you find most interesting from your point of view and would live there, central cali offers plenty of scenery (mountains) and the weather is usually hotter
and then for those that preffer cooler climate and just a great view of beaches then might pick (coastal california)

I'm a beach guy, so SoCal gets my vote for living. NorCal is great for visiting though... no doubt about that.
