Considering all of the opinons posted, not one single city in the entire U.S. fits all of that criteria, so we might be overdoing it.

There's some nice pics of a particular palm in Vancouver, BC.

Too bad for me palms in BC don't mean that a climate is warm, just an absense of extreme cold. But they are great pictures.

Oh, well either way I hate palm trees, lol. I walk outside and feel as if I'm in a vacation place. I don't know, they just aren't appealing to me.

Yes! I was there 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Spent time in West Vancouver as well - I'd move there in a heartbeat. Beautiful scenery, clean town, lots to do, lovely shops. So, so unique. One of my top 3 favorites on planet Earth (so far!). Didn't see any palm trees though in Stanley Park.. Maybe they were destroyed by the awful weather they had this past winter.

Don't think Chicago is rerferred to as "The City That Works" for nothin'!

Of course it's not perfect, but comes oh so close, IMO (of any city I've ever lived in.) It's a great town, as most of the criteria in the first posts describe it. (Yes, even natural beauty.)
And with that CTA honcho finally outta there, bet that public transit there will be "working" much better as well now.

Would love to visit Vancouver someday!

I don't understand the sentence I highlighted in bold. You don't like vacations?

Agreed. Don't forget Houston is a city that also works.

How is Vancouver different from Seattle? I'd like to visit Calgary instead though. Canadian Houston anybody? Did I mention mountains and great skiing?
