What does this list mean? If we're doing this as a personal list of favorites, mine is (in order):
Houston
New York
Augusta, Georgia
Killeen, Texas
Dallas
San Antonio
I have good taste , lol.

I like this listing, but I think it may be a little out of date. Richmond and Columbus doesn't belong anywhere near this list. Charlotte, Portland, and Orlando are more of a city than they are. And as much as I hate to say it, they are certainly behind Phoenix (blah) in global significance.
In fact, when you look at the ranking with the international cities you can see it is dated. Shanghai and Beijing should be much higher then their current rank; I would put them in there with Chicago and LA.
Speaking of LA, is there anyway we can kick it down a few spots just for being Los Angeles?

I agree w/ the OP and mpope409. Sorry but I don't think Las Vegas or Orlando belong anywhere on the list; they are little more than American tourist destinations. Granted I haven't been to Orlando, but I have been to Vegas and it seemed like the vast majority of people were white middle America, with the occasional group of guys from CA or gals from NYC on a getaway.

mpope, That list of 20 cities is just my opinion.
I noticed I forgot Las Vegas and Phoenix in there though.

Agreed. This list is from 1999 I believe, but I don't think they've come out with an "official" one since then. Probably every ten years I'm guessing. I too was wondering where Charlotte was.

My opinion, in order:
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
NYC
Just kidding.
For real.
NYC
San Francisco
San Antonio
Seattle
after those 4, put any of these in any order: Wash DC, Boston, Chicago, Charleston, Miami, Las Vegas

The first 8 or 9 make sense. I am not sure about the rest. It also seems like Philadelphia should be ranked higher.

Austin is a nice city but it certainly isn't internationally important.
