Any similar cities like San Diego on the east coast?

San Diego is a military city. Miami isn't. Miami is very humid, the Everglades are nearby, and it is a flat place. San Diego is relatively hilly, mild, dry, and has more desert. To be honest, there isn't anything like San Diego anywhere in the world.

Cursory ... as in cut up land masses with water between, palms, newer condo towers, and walking around in beachwear. I think Tampa and Jacksonville are even less likely contenders. True, many criteria separate them, but I feel that the South Florida population corridor would be the best move for a San Diegan considering the East Coast.

I went to the beach at Coronado and Del Mar in July back in 2010 aka The Year Without A Summer/Summer Bummer, though I went during the one July warm spell, high temps were around 100°F in Poway and Escondido, about 86°F in the Gaslamp and I'd say 78-80 right at the coast. Even so, I couldn't get in that water more than waist deep! I saw other people going in completely and thought they were insane or eskimos, water temp was only 64°F! Our pool in Phoenix is around 91-92 that time of year

No, there is no similar city on the east coast. You can find similarly sized metros, perhaps Tampa, or Jacksonville, but they do not offer anything close to San Diego's climate. (Maybe during the winter, but even then Florida will have cold spells, while San Diego maintains a mild climate for the most part.)

But the similarities end as late Spring and Summer kick in. This brings the Florida "rainy season", and the humidity is very oppressive. San Diego also enters into a cloudy season, with sunshine breaking out during the afternoon.
