I'm taking 1-day cruise to Freeport, Bahamas on Aug 22 from Ft Lauderdale.
I just saw on the news that there is a tropical "hurricane" close to Africa that is heading west. I'm extremely worried it will hit us when I go to Bahamas. I've been waiting and excited for this trip for over a year!!
So far no hurricanes! I pray God the hurricane won't hit us!!
Well it is not even a tropical storm yet, but it does not look like it will be a problem as of now, but tracks can change and storms can pop up quickly but as of now you look fine for your cruise, no worries.
The north east had 3 digit heat indexes with huge thunder storms, the oceans have been un-stable with all sorts of storms, Taiwan and SE China just got hit with a huge typhoon with another one not too far, and Hawaii just got hit with a tropical storm.

Well the Atlantic has been extremely calm so far(knock on wood), this storm will be the first named storm of the year and according to the track looks like it will just swing North maybe give Bermuda some problems.
You wont have any problems with this storm for your cruise. The end of august is the start of the most active part of Hurricane Season.
El Nino is in full effect on the Atlantic coast so I wouldnt worry much about hurricanes yet. however going into the Caribbean during august is asking for trouble in general.
I've been watching the Weather Channel...it's not TD 2 (probably soon to be Tropical Storm Ana) that's the main concern. As Fly MIA says, it's supposed to swing north.
It's the tropical wave right behind TD 2 that they're concerned about.
According to the National Hurricane Center, there's a 30 - 50 percent chance of it becoming a tropical depression in the next 48 hours. Not the greatest odds in the world.
And then, it has to make that slow trek across the Atlantic.
And then it has to hit Freeport exactly ten days from today.
I think the odds are minuscule. But if you're worried, can't you get travel insurance?
