Really? Maybe you should strive for some personal accomplishment to stroke your ego instead of the soil you live on.
I could live in New York and would rather not...maybe it's because of some of the people's misplaced egos? Get a grip...

This honestly doesn't have that much to do with a NY ego. I said earlier I really enjoy where I live and I'm grateful I can afford to since so many people are being forced out, and I enjoy my life. I feel like others need to put down people who are happy with themselves. I've accomplished a lot for my age and I'm proud of it. It's a shame people feel the need to put down others who are happy...

It's a shame you are unable to re-read many of your posts and understand how condescending and rude many of them really are.
I also wonder if you know that the foundation of ego is insecurity.

This has everything to do with your New York ego. I wouldn't be lying if I said you constantly throw New York in everyone's face like it is the best and most amazing place this planet has ever seen and ever will see. That is the impression that I get overwhelmingly from you. There is nothing wrong with being proud of where you live, but there is such a thing as taking it to an extreme degree. (For example, that Omaha comment earlier was unnecessary.)
I can say with sincerity that I'm glad you are happy with your life. I'm not putting you down because of that. I'm sorry to have to say this, but you are acting like you are being victimized, but others, including myself, are reprimanding you for something you brought on yourself.

I'm really the opposite of insecurity. I have a great life in a great area and make enough money to be able to enjoy its amenities; some of which you can't do in the rest of the country. I'm grateful and happy.

Wow, you really do not get it.
For arguments sake, Rachel, I can tell you that I have sold a business before the ripe old age of 20 worth more than 2 decades of your teacher's salary.
The other difference between you and I, I don't use city-data as a conduit to let everyone know how "accomplished, wealthy, and happy" I am.

Not to insult any particular poster here (I was actually kind of going for the Baker's Dozen that has posted on here), but this thread shows what kind of egotistical freaks us Americans are.
We could really learn something from the Canadians or Swedish.

Actually, in reality, you just bragged about your success when I didn't mention any details...everyone has different successes in life. And by the way, how do you know I'm just a teacher? Do you really think that's my only accomplishment in life? I'm very happy with what I've accomplished so far. What's wrong with that? Money doesn't buy happiness and I don't brag about success. I'm just saying that I'm grateful enough to make enough to keep living here and still have my job, and be able to go into the city to enjoy the awesome amenities. What's so wrong with that? Apparently others know where I"m coming from, since I've gotten messages from people saying they admire how happy I am with where I live and being happy in general.

No one is being negative about you being happy. They are talking about putting other cities down in the process of most of your posts and the condescending nature toward others.
Many people have said this to you so I know they agree with me
As far as being happy, why are you dissing other peoples happiness in life and especially where they live?
