Hillbillies have the advantage of living in rural areas (I'm talking about dark roads rural, not small town rural, since some small towns around here are mini-ghettos), so I'd choose the hillbilly area over the ghetto one.

Tough question - although I live in them thar hills I work in the ghetto. Personally I prefer them thar hills, people are more in the drunk and stupid "hey, hold mah beer and watch this" mode than the drive by shooting mode. YMMV. (Tongue only half in cheek - LOL!)

I would be much more scared in the ghetto than in a hillbilly area. Just look at the crime stats and you'll know why.

I happen to live in the sticks and I can tell you that people are not very tolerant of non-whites and especially blacks. That is no BS.

You might be right. Maybe your part of the country is a little more enlightened when it comes to this. I am serious though when I say that alot of rural areas are not. Smaller towns in the lower midwest that I have been to tend to have alot of racists (especially older people and less educated "townies"). You can walk into alot of bars pretty much anytime and hear the n-word flying around freely. These are places that I don't go back to. Its a disgusting show of ignorance. Small towns that I have been to in the south are, for the most part, even worse. Alot of people down there are ridiculously racist. Its scary stuff. Its hard to believe that it is 2009.
