When you think of the classic or stereotypical grandparents, in what kind of a community do you picture them in? I know there are loads of different answers to this question and not everyone's answer will fall into a survey choice, but please feel welcome to share your thoughts or opinions whether or not your idea of a grandparent's community is one of the survey choices.

Why are the choices either New England, Florida, a small down-and-out town, a middle of nowhere rural place, or a small to mid-sized poor area.

LOL. The last three are basically the same thing!

Down and out specifically says NOT rural. And the last choice is small to mid-sized CITY. So, in other words, the last three choice differently stated are:

B. A very rural, country-ish area like a farm town or country village
C. A regular type of town, just not much going on in it
D. A small to mid-sized city (like Waterbury, CT or Worcester, MA)

For me personally, I either associate retired people with the country or with the beach, not quite sure why. I know there is a huge stereotype concerning the population of Florida and retired people, but I always feel as though grandmothers in movies or in books are depicted as living in really rural areas. For example, the children might ask their parents, "Why do we have to go AAAALL the way to Grandma's house? It's in THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE!" Anyone else ever pick up on that?
