Alaska is said to have most rape cases.
I can't imagine rape cases in a freezing place...wow

Yea after I saw that most of those 'ratings' didn't make sense like that, I started to question their sources. Some people say it's better to do your own research based on your areas of interest,I think you have to go by the local crime sites of those areas.

Well I think it does have the lowest women to men ratio though. Maybe it's the Eskimos

It looks like New Hampshire (#4 safest) mistakenly got assigned the stats for Maryland (#4 most dangerous).

I lived in Alaska for five months (Anchorage) and always felt very UNsafe. Alot of wandering vagrants, dirty, etc. However, the rest of the state seemed very clean and beautiful, friendly, etc. Maybe just the Big City atmosphere in play....

I have lived in NV for a total of 6 yrs mother has for near 10yrs and step father over 20 and uhm Maybe the data is from Vegas but I doubt even that but Nevada is very very safe sirens are so extreemly rare very few 'bad' parts of town and they are so small. bad is moderate compared to the rest of the country.

I really just dont understand NV being a bad place to live...I feel thar any race any age any sex can walk at night and feel safe.

The Police may not care if you drive 6mph faster than posted speed or use your signals but they do patrol and keep a lookout....mostly when I see police cars is b/c they are being citezns and helping out not ticketing

I think New Mexico"s problem is all of the testing that they have done over the years at the Bases and the Labs plus the heat does not help at all. To bad i like New mexico

As far as Texas being #12 most dangerous:

- Dallas and Houston rank among the 10 most dangerous cities with a population of 500,000+.

- El Paso, Austin, San Antonio, and Fort Worth rank among the 10 safest cities with a population of 500,000+.

Yes indeed that seems to be the error. New Hampshire always is one of the very safest states along w/ Vermont. The exception would be Manchester, a city that gets played up by the media for being one of these "up and coming" hotbeds, but in reality is mostly a dump and crime riddled. Other than this exception, it is wonderful alas to live in a state like New Hampshire where your vehicle generally remains unscathed on a public street and people aren't killing each other over some stupid bullcrap.

Rust Belt states like Ohio, PA, WVA seem to score very well. 'Probably due to the older population - and possibly because everyone is armed!
