Which is the most POPULAR city, Boston or Philadelphia? NOTE: This DOES NOT mean which city you prefer.

I am sure it would be Boston by a mile. Philly has a bad national rap. Growing up in the NE people always looked to move to Bos, NYC or DC. Philly was seen an east coast Detroit. Not to say it is a fair rap, but it is there.

Philadelphia is a combination of Boston and Detroit. To say its seen as an East Coast Detroit is a grave injustice to Philadelphia.

Due to its size(3x size of Boston)it has a larger compilation of upscale areas than Boston and of course it has a larger collection of run down areas than Boston. But lets try and keep it real here.

very true, but detroit has an urban fabric that's envy of every city. its a compliment to philly. although, its a shame what happened to that city.

I am not saying I agree with the reputation. But, I am just saying that growing up in Upstate New York people always viewed Philly as a dumpy industrial town. Like a big Rochester or Buffalo.

Boston was always seen as expensive, white collar and preppy.

Like most stereotypes there is some truth to it. But, in reality the cities are closer than their reputations suggest.

Philadelphia because it's twice the size of Boston. Maybe I'm baised being from the Phila burbs but I rather live in Boston than Phila, it's more civilized. Phila is more fun though.

This question is too generic. More popular for WHAT reasons (??).
