Western Europe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just noticed that Western Europe (as defined by UNESCO on Wikipedia) has nearly reached parity with America in total population growth since 2000 and is reduced the percent change gap down to 5% to 8%.

Western Europe now has 398 million residents, an increase of 19 million since 2000 for a percent increase of 4.92%.

The United States now has 305 million residents, an increase of 24 million for a percent increase of 8.20%.

The saying goes that "people vote with their feet" - does this growing parity mean Europe has now equaled the US in economic power and is now the destination for immigrants?

If population were the only strength then India and China would have leveled us decades ago.

Population growth can be attributed to a variety of factors beyond financial potential.

Very true, but you can't discount the immigration that has come from Africa(North, East and West) and Asia(Eastern and Southern), in recent years to Western Europe for economic reasons.

Sure, but an immigration swell doesn't outwardly suggest a shift of economic centering away from the US IMO.

On the OP's list, it still shows the US having more intake overall anyway.

Europe has some of the lowest birth rates in the world. Much of its growth is apparently from immigration.

1. Europe has much lower growth rates, which your numbers confirm.

2. Europe has open borders from many states in the East, which are losing population to the West

As an immigrant myself, who used to live in Europe, most folks would prefer to immigrate to the U.S., but Europe is easier to get into from some countries. The lifestyle in the U.S. is preferred by most immigrants, so that's the #1 preference (provided you can get in).

I have to agree. When I lived in Italy, I met a lot of immigrants from Africa that told me theyd rather live here.

It's called European-destroying genocide via means of non-assimilating, non-European third worlders with insanely high birth rates, particularly muslims.

That's your answer.

This "growth" is nothing to celebrate.
