That's what I asking, I wasn't trying to be disrespectful or anything.

A lot of Southern food exists up north, people eat pig feet, chitlens, etc. here.

Country music is popular in the South and a lot of Northerners listen to it as well (I enjoy many Country songs myself).

Southern-like speech patterns exist here too (that's how I speak).

Styles of dress? Its pretty much the same everywhere in 2009.

I never knew there was a Southern type of architecture though, I guess you learn something new everyday.

The title of this thread is "Have You Ever Left a State/Area Because You Just Didn't Like Living There?" I think the coast is clear, so can we please go back to that? Please?

Yes (although I am going to be threatened for saying this)

I left NY because I wanted to go to a good public university and live in a nicer state. I went to Texas to go to Texas A&M and loved it down there.

NY has been going down hill economically and politically for awhile and although it was tough, I knew that the nice state I grew up in was going nowhere fast

Most of my high school classmates have also followed my lead going to N Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Arizona, California or even overseas.

For a new poster, you seemed to have zeroed in on anti-New York posts. But your not the only one here on CD who constantly attacks certain cities or states, that is for sure.

I really think some people have some kind of love-hate relationship with certain places. They think they hate it but deep down something keeps drawing them back to talking about a place which they supposedly left behind. Probably part of them wonders what it would be like to live back in that old place.

I suppose deep down without realizing it, they may have regrets about moving, so they resort to attacking the old place to make themselves feel better.

You are one of the smart NY'ers I have met on here and reasonable

I guess it is a little love hate. I loved my childhood up there but when I got older and saw many people getting laid off from long jobs and started reading about how discontented people were with leadershil and actually studied it myself, I grew to hate it. I disliked it mostly due to the leaders who continued to ignore the workong class folks and made it hard for recent college grads to find work

This is the love and hate. I love what NY was before and hate what it is becoming (due to politicians up there)

Hate AND delusion in one tidy package.

I left Gainesville in 1971 after 6 months and moved back to NY. I hope to leave Naples (2 years too long) VERY SOON and go back to NY, for good.

Yes, I think it is a trend.
