I'm an Aussie (g'day! ;P) finishing university soon and I want to move back to the states. Back? Yes, I was born there and it was a decade before moving to Aus. So I'm almost entirely unfamiliar with what the different big cities are like, and I'd like to know where you all would recommend going! If I can figure out it out now I can do my last semester there on international exchange and put down some roots

I have very few relations/friends in any given place, so I'm almost completely open to anywhere! The main things I care about in my destination of choice are:

- A good performing arts industry/culture (my passion / preferred work)
- Generic attitude/lifestyle of the city/state
- Cost of Living
- A decent university would be great of course (including social life)

Looking forward to seeing what you think!

Philadelphia would be a good choice and meet all your requirements.

I agree that Philadelphia is a good option. If you don't mind a cold winter (although summers are warm) Minneapolis would also meet your needs.

NYC is a good place although the cost of living is high.

I agree with the above posters about Philadelphia and Minneapolis. Other cities that would be great choices for you are Chicago, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, & Portland.
