OK....65 states.....they are (no google, no bing no Rand)

Alaska
Oregon

80 states: (and this one really tore me up) BUT:

Utah and Nevada---and I am still doubting myself.

Smithtown is a large city in its state. It is served by Interstate 2, and no other primary interstate. However, it has an extensive interstate system.

Standard naming conventions of spurs and bypass routes would be I-102, I-202, I-302 etc.

So if we re-ask the question, what city is served by one primary interstate, yet used all possible combinations of its primary interstate to apply to its freeway system, what city is this. NOTE: There could be one route that no longer exists. (Now I gave away the farm.....)

No one guessing on this one. Its fairly easy if you West Coast road geeks will just think about it. Answer will be posted tomorrow.

This one is now in the books!

tcmouse figured it out. (sorry about the left-field Alaska reference!)

1. 65 States in the west...Oregon and Alaska. Correct.

2. 80 States...Texas and Utah. Correct. (although the central I-15 Utah section is quite short)

3. no limit...already answered by tcmouse...Montana.

Good job, tcmouse! Sorry about your Pats, the Broncos look to be for real this year!

Good one PW: Took me a couple of days and looking at a US map I have, its a single page laminate that I scanned after a scotch, my good glasses, and my re-reading my previous answers. And without a trip to the ER to get my blood pressure checked

Woof Woof!!! Broncos are a force to be reckoned with, but don't rule out the Pats. Brady's ability to read and react to a defense is a skill that can't be taught. Its second nature. Sink the Cowboys until Jerry Jones sells em. WAIT....FOOTBALL IS ANOTHER STRING.....nuff said.

Yeah, as an NFL fan, I agree...Brady is terrific and N.E. will be a factor all year.

Interesting thing about Alaska...there is really only one multi-lane freeway, from Anchorage up to Wasilla (heard of Sarah Palin?)...It isn't more than about 25 miles (rough guess), so the 65mph limit in Alaska is probably due to that, plus always the possibility of hitting a moose. I am pretty certain many other 2-lane highways in rural Alaska also post at 65. But the question was asked with that in mind...kind of a head-scratcher, but tcmouse read between the lines!
