I'm really surprised Houston is on this list. Usually Houston like other Texas cities are on the cheapest places to live list. I think the publisher of this list definitely made a mistake putting Houston on the list. It has Houston listed as more expensive than Washington D.C. Usually Washington is a lot more expensive than Houston.
So what do you think? Am I right about this being a mistake or has there been a change going on lately in Houston that I'm unaware of? Is Houston going from one of the cheapest to one of the most expensive cities in America?
Looking at their overall methodology, I would say it is pretty accurate.
What is more interesting in comparing to last year, almost every city on that list moved up 30 spots or so on the world wide one. US must have become more expensive to live in...

You are correct. Houstan is relativly inexpensive and doesn't belong on that list and Washington and Boston should be higher than Chicaco. Obviously their data was flawed or they are confused or both.
i'm not sure if its flawed, but WP should have been lumped in with NYC. WP in itself isn't attracting people.
but that list seems right
Yeah I agree White Plains should be included with NYC. I would only list the main city from any one metro area. White Plains and NYC are really one package deal.

Yeah this is my impression too. Washington and Boston should be higher than Chicago. Chicago should be higher than Houston. That part is correct. Also the last time I checked Seattle was more expensive than Houston or Chicago but its not on the list.
I was wondering about Houston, I thought that had to be wrong, I know Texas has some of the most affordable cities in the country.
Yeah usually Austin and Dallas are more expensive than Houston. Usually Austin is the most expensive city in TX. Austin is the city everybody brags about. Not many people brag about Houston. It's just a good place to earn some dinero.
