I bet people didn't know these types of houses exist in NYC, they look very LA-esque. There's more of them and there are bigger ones.

Once again this is in Queens.

This is my favorite section of Queens--Forest Hills Gardens. You wouldn't ever think it's NYC. The architecture in this neighborhood makes you feel like you're in Europe. It's so pretty.

Chapparal Park in Scottsdale. Lots of grass, big trees, and a large lake. If you're there, you'd swear you're in Illinois, not the middle of a desert.

Yeah this is a rural swamp area but you can clearly see a NYC bus to the right. This is in Southeast Queens (by me) just north of JFK, the area is called Idlewild Park and many people call this "Snake Road", JFK actually used to be called Idlewild Airport.
Good call. JFK is right next to a huge wildlife preserve (much of NYC used to be marshland, by the way, when Henry Hudson first sailed up the river).

For those of you who were educated about bird strikes after Captain Sullenberger landed his plane on the river, you should know that the US Fish and Wildlife Service has been under contract for years to shoot birds out at the airport. Bird strikes happen all the time, and often the pilot radios in when he knows one has been sucked into the engine. The airport then goes on Amber Alert with emergency services ready in case an engine conks out. Most of the time, no one besides the pilot and the ATC and emergency people ever find out.

what's wrong with concrete jungles? I happen to like NYC and yes not everything in the city is paved over either.
As for density in the south all one has to do is look at cities like New Orleans or Miami and see there is some serious density going on.
