Urban and Conservative: Anyone else? (house, school, living in)

I have read alot of post from more policially left leaning people who are total country folks, even though the stereotype is that they're city people.

So my post is to ask if there is anyone out there who is a Republican/Conservative/Right-Wing who is a Big City person. It's a stereotype that conservatism is an ideology of the Middle America/Suburban set, but I would like to hear from fellow conservatives who are also urbanites at heart!

You may be able to find some in Atlanta, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Washington DC, Houston, etc. but they are definetly a minority...look at the voting statistics in each city and you will see what I mean.

I am a right winger who doesn't mind the city. Although at this stage in my life, having 2 school age children, I'm gravitating to more rural areas.

LOL at this thread. Every city has conservatives who also happen to be urban dwellers. Living in the city and being liberal aren't mutually exclusive. Personally I am a progressive, but I have plenty of friends who live in Chicago, NYC, San Francisco and here in Atlanta that are hardcore conservatives.

True there aren't many of them around, but no major city is going to be even close to being 100% one party.

Agree with Waronxmas. Regardless of the predominant leanings of a place, even a fairly small town will have enough of a population to hold a variety of political views. In large cities you'll find those with various views in even greater numbers. In many older cities in the Northeast and Midwest there will be a blue-collar element which will include a lot of Reagan Democrats. Because many of the rightward-leaning people in these cities are Democrats, someone might overlook a large conservative element if the person judged only by party affiliation. If you want a predominantly conservative city, especially a densely populated traditional kind of city, that's going to be tough, but any city will have a significant number of conservatives in its population, even if they form only a substantial minority.

Im conservative and I live in Albuquerque, but Im from Eastern NM which is all conservative and I wouldnt mind being back in a small town.

Amarillo, Bakersfield, Colorado Springs, Knoxville, Oklahoma City, and Provo-Orem are all fairly Republican. Some smaller metropolises are fairly Republican. Odessa-Midland, Texas seems to be represented solely by Republicans at the state and national level. Greenville, South Carolina is fairly conservative from what I can tell.

However many other large cities have conservatives. Here are cities with newspapers that have high circulation plus endorsed Bush in 2004 and McCain in 2008.

New York City - The New York Post. New York City has some of the most liberal districts in the nation, but Staten Island went for McCain.

Dallas, Texas - Dallas Morning News. Largely a "liberal" town, but it has a Republican mayor and the "Crunchy Conservative" blogger Rod Dreher.

Phoenix - Arizona Republic

San Diego, California - San Diego Union-Tribune. Traditionally a Republican area, but veering liberal of late.

Columbus, Ohio - The Columbus Dispatch

San Antonio, Texas - San Antonio Express-News

Cincinnati - The Cincinnati Enquirer. The city hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1980, but the county it's in was won by Bush twice and Dole once. The city is currently represented in the US House of Representatives by a man endorsed by "Democrats for Life of America", a Pro-Life Democratic group, and he succeeded a Republican who had been in since 1995.

Also Indianapolis I think has a mix of conservatives and liberals from what I can tell. Omaha was traditionally fairly Republican although it went for Obama this election.
