I love that we change clocks twice a year for Daylight Saving Time.
Some people hate it, because it might be confusing to change an hour back or forward the time the first day or two. But MOST don't know the meaning of it!

For example:

Shortest day in NYC, the sun rise 7:15 AM and sun set 4:30 PM.

If we did not use Daylight Saving Time Ends, the sun rise would be 8:15 PM and sun set 5:30 PM.
- Why would you want to wake up in the morning when it's dark outside? OK, maybe it stinks that sun set an hour earlier, but common, it's winter and it should get dark sooner, and you should think of the summer, that means it will get darker sooner in summer!

Longest day in NYC, the sun rise 5:20 AM and sun set 8:30 PM.

If we did not use Daylight Saving Time, the sun rise would be 4:20 AM and sun set 7:30 PM.
- Why would you want to get darker earlier in summer and have it lighter earlier in morning when you're still a sleep, it's better to enjoy an hour longer evening daylight? 7.30 PM waay to early to get dark in summer.

I'm a nocturnal/morning person, so I hate Daylight Savings Time. If it didn't exist, twilight would occur shortly after 4AM here in June. That would be a great experience, honestly.

I would think NYC has enough light that you wouldn't be waking up in total darkness, but maybe I'm wrong.

I dislike Daylight Savings Time a great deal, but it seems fairly set in this country. I almost envy my sister in Japan as she doesn't have to deal with it.

We don't do Daylight Savings Time in Hawai'i either. Our local officials couldn't figure out how to "spring forward" or "fall back."

daylight savings is an antiquated and outdated idea.it was first started during the first or second world war,i forget which one.i forget the actual reasoning behind it but i think it had something to do with the schools.

I thought Ben Franklin was the daylight savings time guy, now I have to goggle it.

After living in Arizona for 24 years and not dealing with it and now in Idaho having to change my clocks 2x's a year it really seems stupid to me like we are doing something just because "that's they way we have always done it and gosh darn that's they way we are always going to do it".

I think that daylight savings is from spring till fall and fall till spring is just standard time. Another words, daylight savings has no effect on the time the sun rises and sets in the winter. So the op who said MOST people don't understand, doesn't understand. wow now my head hurts.

I like the darkness, especially since living here. Don't need any more sunshine hours.
