After two decades of growth spurred by a civil war, natural disasters and rural poverty, the Salvadorn-born population in the United States has reached about 1.1 million people, making it the sixth largest immigrant community in the nation, a new study by the Migration Policy Institute says.
The number of immigrants from one of the smallest countries in Latin America now almost equals the immigrant population from China, which has 200 times as many people and about 500 times as much territory as El Salvador, according to author Aaron Terrazas. About one of every five Salvadorans now lives in the U.S.
wouldn't be surprised if in northern virginia they're #1. all they offer is ms-13. that's it. why we accept immigration more easily from el salvador over europe is beyond me.

It's a good thing because they diversify the hispanic immigration, very mexican-centric for the moment.
And apparently the Guatemalan/Peruvian/colombian immigration is booming too !

Based on your previous comments, I would say you are a racist.
Salvadorans have nothing to offer but a murderous gang? How would you like it if I said that Germans have nothing to offer but Nazis and the Holocaust?
And you are also wildly ignorant of the immigration process. We do not "favor" Salvadorans. In fact, we "favor" Europeans, but more Latinos come because they are from poor, failed states. Europeans generally have no reason to come.
Salvadorans are actually THE most-numerous Hispanic group in metropolitan Washington DC. Many work there in construction trades, janitors, waste disposal, restaurants, and landscaping. It used to be they would settle first near downtown DC --- but now when they arrive they go directly to live in the suburbs. Sometimes to save money, they will crowd into older ranch-houses, parking their cars all around. This house-sharing is good for the earth's carbon footprint, but can depreciate the image of the neighborhood, and result in less property tax collected, per capita.

just because i am of germanic descent doesn't mean i'm german. we'll start there. i can be of germanic descent and be british. germanic people trotted everything from northern italy to great britain. but to not confuse you, i'll admit i have an ancestor from GERMANY anyway.
yes when it comes to immigration from el salvador, the negatives greatly outweigh the positives. doesn't take einstein to see that, all you have to do is live in northern virginia and open your eyes.
as for the immigration process, one of my dad's old friends is a london cop and he wanted to move to the states till he found out it's damn near impossible.
