Where in south East USA has cheap real estate. Any specific cities? I am interested in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee areas. Any help is greatly appretiated!
Cheap is relative. Real estate in the Southern states will always appear cheaper to someone that lives in the Northeast and many parts of the West Coast. Give us more specifics, as in what price point do you define as cheap, and what would you expect to get for that.
Example, in my zip code $350,000 for a 1-bedroom condo is "cheap". In many parts of the South I could get a 3,000+ sq foot house on a good amount of land for the same price.

Eeeek.
Eek. Are you sure you want to live in the South? Are you absolutely positive? Eeek..
Have you ever put some consideration into living somewhere in the Southwest such as in Colorado? The mountain views are beautiful, the weather is neutral and the accents aren't horrendous. Just a thought.

Please, sit down and think about the culture difference before you make the move. Sometimes, a bigger house is not worth the culture that you are moving into, not to mention the type of people that you will be surrounded by in those states listed.

We are aware of the cultural difference, we have visited the south many times, we however want to buy a starter home. we want something that is generally newer construction. We only wanna move to this home for 5-7 years and we dont want to feel cramped.
we would like to spend around 120,000 -130,000 for the home and get a new single family home. no condo's or duplex.

You need to be more specific as far as the size of town/city. Are you a person that is thinking of say a bigger city like atlanta? Give us the size of the metro area that you are looking to move into. Most cities in the south : Atlanta, Charlotte, etc...... 130,000 won't get you much.
oh sorry. were looking for a population between 2000-10,000 people. small town.
Oh, ok. Well, this is the problem that you are going to have..... many people are not aware of small towns. However, what people are going to do is to give you the closest city and tell you to research the area around it yourself. Honestly, I think that is what is going to help you narrow down your search.
Therefore, I would suggest Charleston SC and Raleigh NC. Maybe around 35 to 40 minutes outside of those places can get you something in the 130,000 range for a 2 bedroom - 2 bath. Also, from what I hear, the state of Tennesee as a whole is very expensive compared to other southern states.
Benny, what is it exactly that you find so scary about me?
lol. Maybe Benny is having a bad day because it isn't "neutral" outside, today. Lord knows how I love it when the weather is neutral.
