If that's true, then it's really the Maifolk Corridor, isn't it?

don't see why they'd swap a state into the name instead of a city. Maybe Portfolk?

They plan on extending the Northeast Corridor form Boston to Portland and form DC to the Hamptons. So we can call the Amtrak Portfolk.

The BosWash corrider runs from Boston to DC and includes Boston, NYC, Philly, Baltimore, and DC plus all the smaller cities in between - pretty simply really

I do hope you mean extending Amtrack from DC to Hampton ROADS and not eastern Long Island.

We have enough problems around already without importing them from Congress!

Didn't know that, I thought they were just speeding it up a little.

I like Portfolk over Boswash, it sounds like an actual name. And I saw that map you posted (was it you?), Hampton Roads/Richmond is almost connected with the lower end of the "BosWash".

A plan calls for a New NEC to be built onto LI and over the sound into New England , it would cost 100 billion and be privately funded.

Yes , Electrification down to Richmond and Eventually to Hampton Roads. Electrification up to Portland and reopening of a JCT and Boston for Trains to go to North Station instead of building a NEC. Sped up averages to 140-60 in spots. New Wires , Bridges , Tunnels and more Tracks , increasing it form 2 to 3 , 3 to 4 , 4 to 6 and 6 to 8 in some places. Then once the main NEC is overhauled each NE will accelerate feeder lines which connect almost every city in the region with Rail.
