What the hell are you talking about? Unlike the East and West Coasts, almost every major city in the Midwest has a very significant black population. Illinois has the second highest black population north of the Mason-Dixon line, second only to Maryland.

No, it's obvsiously not racist for a white person chosing to live there.

Research the Great Migration of blacks from the south. They mostly moved from the South to California, New York and THE MIDWEST..

Maryland is below the Mason-Dixon line. But I get your point.

NYC has more black people than the entire state of Illinois. Hispanics are the largest minority in Illinois nowadays.

There are black communities in smaller cities and towns too. So, it really depends on where you are in Upstate NY. I wonder where you were in regards to the people staring at you guys. In fact Rochester has a higher Black percentage than Charlotte, Charleston SC, Nashville and Raliegh, among some others. Same with Buffalo as well. You will also find some suburbs in Upstate NY with Black folks too.

Also, that is not true about Westchester County. There are quite a few Black folks in Peekskill, Ossining, Tuckahoe, Dobbs Ferry, White Plains, New Rochelle, Port Chester and some in other communities. In Rockland County, most of the Nyacks(especially Nyack and Central Nyack), Spring Valley, the Haverstraws, among a few others.
rockland county is run by haitians i remember my sister went their and said she saw nothing but haitians and a few dominican beauty salons.

I was talking about percentage. Illinois has a higher percentage of black people than New York State.

On a list of the ten states with the highest Hispanic population (as in percentage), Illinois is not listed. But nonetheless, on a list of the ten states with the highest black population, Illinois is listed as number 9 and New York is number 10. This is incudling the District of Columbia as a state. Both Illinois and New York State are 17% black, rounded off to the nearest figure. There must not be a very significant difference.

BY THE WAY: I'm looking at the notes in the back of the book "How Barrack Obama Won: A State By State Guide to the Histoic 2008 Presidential Election". And speaking of which, the first black president is from Illinois. Just throwing that out there.

atlanta is a good example of why people would be attracted to the south.
New orleans and memphis should take classes from atlanta leadership.
