Right...but the bank didn't build any of the recent towers with the intention of moving to those cities - did it? There is obviously a possibility that BOA may move it's headquarters to NYC, but I don't believe that the decision to build the new building has anything whatsoever to do with that possibility.

Nah, I don't think so. I just wanted to add that little tidbit.

If they move i will feel sorry for Charlotte
Although it always seemed like the most random place for such a major company

Major companies are headquartered all over the the U.S. - in random cities ranging from NYC to Charlotte to Bentonville, AR. Regions Bank (Birmingham) and BB&T (Winston-Salem) are also not based in NYC, just like Capital One (McLean, VA) US Bancorp (Minneapolis) and National City Corp (Cleveland).
It seems like banks and Fortune 500 companies ARE headquartered in random cities everywhere.

I used to work at BofA. If they were to ever ditch Charlotte for NY it would be a severe blow to the Charlotte economy and pride. BofA practically owns and runs Charlotte.

It's going to hurt whether you want it to or not. You can't sugar coat things like this. It is whether the city can just hold on strong. There are plenty of cities out there that have hit similar rocky roads, but are doing pretty well overall. And it also depends on how long the city would take a blow like this. So you don't really know is the point, but can just hope for the best.
