Its true alot of men ignore BW but i guess the real question is why? Why do people not find black women attractive?....

because of stereotypes created by members of the dominant society and those that perpetuate them.

That's pretty much it. And the fact that it's an issue nobody really wants to talk about as evidenced by this thread. Not much has gone on here lately but most people on here will argue whether someone asks you if you go to church or not where you live all day.

If I could rep you, I would. It is one of those touchy subjects that is still very real in this society, unfortunately.

I think nobody wants to talk about it because it is still such an emotionally-charged issue. Nobody wants to be labeled a racist, or get into a nasty argument. Still, I feel it's worth talking about.

I know you're not going to want to hear this, but I find that just as racist as someone refusing to date black women because of societal standards, etc. Why would you limit yourself to a certain race of women? Isn't that prejudiced and discriminatory? Yes, there are beautiful black women, but there are also beautiful Asian women, white women, Hispanic women, Native American women, and so on and so forth.

I really believe that racism will not die until we learn to stop considering race at all and become colorblind. The color of someone's skin doesn't matter: you should see an individual as an American, a human being, not as black, white, or whatever. As long as we continue to focus on someone's race, racism will continue. When we can truly see others based on the content of their character, and not the color of their skin, then racism and prejudice will finally die in America.

Maybe as far as dating, but I think black men are the most discriminated against in everything else. I agree that there are a lot of attractive black women out there. As a black guy myself, I don't try to limit myself just for one group of females. I see attractive black, latinas, and white women everyday.

It would be called a bias or preference. There is a difference.

Also, the issue with race isn't so much about being "colorblind", but about not letting race matter. There is a difference there as well, because if you are colorblind, you don't see the reality behind who that person is versus not letting it matter is still seeing the person for what they are and where they are, but not letting that become an obstacle.

I think you are right and I've heard this from non-Blacks as well. Just look at education for example and how not only race is an issue in that regard in this country but more and more gender is as well, regardless of race.
