What's the closest city you live by with a population more than 800,000? And do you ever visit that city? Also, how far do you live away from that city?

I live in Kalamazoo
Population 70,000

Me:
Chicago 3,800,000
Visit it almost every month
1hr 20mins when traffic is okay..

I lived in Waco and the closest city was Dallas about 90 miles away.

We'd visit it often to visit family or go to Sixflags. Also for school shopping and my mom use to go up there to get clothes for her store.

Miami Beach has less than 90,000 people and is across the bridge from Miami. The tiny city proper of Miami only has a bit more than 400,000 people while the county has about 2.4 million. But, I guess that doesn't count. One would have to drive 350 miles north to Jacksonville to visit a "big" city based on your criteria. But, there's no reason to do so since Miami is a much bigger city in actuality. City limits are arbitrary in many instances and Florida is one of those instances. the metro area of Florida's largest city, Jacksonville, is smaller than Miami/Ft Laudedale, Tampa/St.Pete and Orlando Metros.
Miami's metro is the 7th largest in the US and its urbanized area is the 8th most densely populated in the nation. The urban area is the 5th largest in the country.
MiamiDade is a collection of seamless communities that stretch north to south without interuption and house millions.

This is a tough one, as there are about 4 cities within the same distance that are over 800,000. I've been to Toronto twice, NYC twice, Philly twice and have never been to Montreal. If you count Boston, I've been there once. All are within 4 hours. If you count DC, it is within 5 and a half hours and have been many times.

I live in Grants Pass, Oregon (pop. ~34,000). I'm about 400 miles or 7 hours from San Francisco (pop. ~810,000). I've only been there once. I go to the second next nearest city of >800,000, which is Los Angeles (pop. ~3,835,000), almost yearly. It's about 720 miles or 11 hours away from here.
