Over 70% of this country is white, and 13% is black, how many black people do you expect to see on a plane? I'm sure if your flying from Newark to Atlanta the black population would be more abundant, but no matter what, most the people on the plane are not always visiting/living in the actual city of where the airport is located.... So you never know what the outcome will be in terms of demographics.

Nothing scientific to offer, but my black friends have the travel bug like crazy...

Mine too. I usually do a fair bit of traveling over the course of a year, but lately it seems that a lot of my Facebook (and real life) friends have been all over the country: Phoenix, Seattle, New York, Miami, DC, London, etc.

It works both ways. Whites self segregate themselves from the blacks just as the blacks segregate themselves from the whites.
If not more so, as Whites are more segregated than Blacks. Think about the terms of which integration takes place.

Good series to check out: RACE - The Power of an Illusion | PBS

and a good site to check out segregation indices: CensusScope -- Racial Segregation Statistics for Cities and Metropolitan Areas

I think Blacks do travel, but like many others have said, it is usually by driving.

Just to let you guys know, your best bet is to just ignore CityFanatic's posts, as he loves to target threads such as "these" (if you know what I mean).

Personally, I do a majority of my traveling via I-35 lol. No, but I've only traveled by plane 3 or 4 times in my entire life, and I have NEVER been on a Greyhound bus.

I prefer my travel via car as well, I-40 and I-25

Greyhound Stinks, Been on twice, alot of people actually use greyhound to Move across country, not for traveling, but for the people that do use it for traveling I actually see more older Whites using it.

Yeah, lots of blacks prefer driving than actually taking the bus. I've never rode the Greyhound bus and probably never will.

I guess I don't really notice or count how many people of each race are on my flights. It's a complete non-issue...but I would assume it to be nearly the same as the percentage of the population.

I took a trip on Amtrak last year...it was kinda fun, but it took about two hours longer than it would have taken me to drive, and was only about $40 less than a plane ticket.
