I can't figure this out because i keep hearing and reading conflicting stories about what states have legalalized sports betting. From what i understand nevada, oregon, montana, and delaware are the only 4 states that can have legal sports betting according to a law. Then i read that montana and oregon used to have it but it's only active in nevada and delaware. Then further i heard that it's really only in nevada because delaware has like a parlay system where you can only bet on football, multiple games at a time. Can someone from oregon, montana, nevada, and delaware plaease clear this up for me. What i want to know is if i wanted to bet on say a football game today, in which of those 4 states could i legally walk into a casino and place my bet on the game? I know about online places, i want to know about physical locations within those 4 states. Sorry for the long explanation and thanks for any help.
I'm from Oregon. NFL Parlay bets were allowed in the 80s, and NBA in the 90s, resulting in lawsuits. Parlays were outlawed by the state in 2006. Ok, so oregon gets crossed off the list of states that offer legal sports bets. Does anyone have any info on what the situation is in delaware or montana?
I am trying to get the same information. I know a lot of states have added off track betting to their casinos, but I am having trouble finding which ones. Anyone have any ideas? I am hoping Wy has it cause we are planning a trip to the black Hills next spring and hubby wants to do some horse race betting.
Didn't New Jersey recently vote to allow it? As far as I know Nevada is the only one that currently allows it. One of the reasons I really miss living there.
As for betting on teams (like NFL, MLB, NBA), I believe only Nevada. As for horseracing, another story. Heck, even in Idaho you can bet on historic horse races, which seems inane to me.
Some say that Vegas will never get a big-league team because of the gambling. I'm not sure I get the connection exactly, but I suppose there would be opportunity for corruption.
