Because you keep saying that the metro area is more diverse, but don't post any numbers to prove that the metro area is more diverse.
Then explain why 94.5% of their city population is black or white. It only leaves 5.5% open to all other ethnicities.
No, that only leaves 5.5% open to all other races and says nothing about ethnicity whatsoever. Some of the black people in Atlanta are Guyanese, Jamaican, and Dominican; some of the white people in Atlanta are Italian, Cuban, and Israeli. Look at waronxmas' post about the foreign-born population to see what I mean.

I understand that point. But, we know for a fact they are missing an Asian and Hispanic population.

Actually if you break the numbers down further, about 530,000 of all Atlantans (which was on that page too) were foreign born. That's all people including Africans and Europeans who, if you hadn't noticed, are black and white too.
This is not taking in to account the hundreds of thousands of people who aren't foreign born but are asian, latino, or of say second generation italian or something.
So for arguments sake, lets say 800,000 to 900,000 people in Atlanta in 2003 were either foreign born or a member of an ethnic group that wasn't "traditional" southern white or black. That's 1/4 of the entire msa population of 2003.

I'm not sure you do understand the point. At least with respect to the "Hispanic" population, you seem to be misinterpreting the statistics. There are thousands of "Hispanics" alone in both the "white" and "black" racial categories. 94.5% "white or black" includes many "Hispanics" as well.
Also, I wouldn't exactly say that Atlanta is "missing an Asian and Hispanic population" when the Atlanta metro, in 2003, had 276,378 people born in Latin America and 144,643 people born in Asia. This, of course, does not even count the American-born Asians and "Hispanics."
