I am driving from Seattle to Boston in early January. Does anyone have any insight as to whether I should take I-90 or I-80. I know they are both mountainous and prone to weather, but I've heard conflicting information regarding which is the better bet in winter. I'm in a Jeep so I'm not overly concerned about snow as long as the roads are somewhat maintained. My main concern is not getting stuck due to unpassable roads.
Also, does anyone know an easy, user-friendly, website to check updated road conditions?
I-80 is infamous for rough travel conditions and it's also more heavily traveled. I-90 is a bit more of a direct route across the plains states and less congested.
