What you people don't realize is the NYC area is multiple, multiple times that of any metro in FL, so an influx of a tiny fraction of NYers to Naples or Charlotte will affect those areas in a large way, but it will not put a dent in the massive population of NYC. And furthermore, the population of NYC is still growing...

1) This study in happiness (from the OP) has Florida #3 and NY dead last


2) Domestic Migration by State (http://mcdc2.missouri.edu/data/popests/Reports/dmig_report_states - broken link)

...and this one shows that NY State has many more people moving out than in (opposite is true for Florida)
